Maternity sessions are meant to be laid back and comfortable. Sessions generally last 60-90 minutes. I have found that the best time to shoot these sessions is from about 30-36 weeks, but of course they can be done right up until your due date. During this time is when I find that the belly is just the right size to be nice and round without being too uncomfortable.
I offer three basic options for maternity sessions. First is in the comfort of my home studio. We can use various backdrops, wraps, and dramatic as well as window lighting to create a unique and beautiful session. The second option is to have an outdoor, on-location session. These sessions are fantastic for those who want to be photographed in a beautiful or fun location. The options are endless with this type of session and regardless of which type of session you choose, you will receive gorgeous, unique and personal images tailored to who you are. The third option is a session held in the comfort of your own home. I will use the elements of your home to create a very personalized session.
As far as attire goes, we want to choose clothing items that accent your growing belly. Pre-pregnancy clothing such as jeans and form fitting dresses and tops work very well. I will generally provide a few items that I feel will be useful. Keep in mind that if you want your belly showing in any of the pictures the texture of your clothing is important. Some clothing such as thermal tops or those with a lot of ribbing will leave marks on your belly!
I greatly encourage your significant other to be a part of this session. If that isn’t possible then we will still come up with some fantastic shots, but it is nice to have those great photos of mommy and daddy. I’d love to have any siblings join us for the session as well. Of course the purpose of this session is to showcase your beautiful pregnant belly, but we also want to include any other aspects of your life that are important to your journey into motherhood.
Sessions are $75 for location sessions. If booked in conjunction with newborn session the session is $50.
